we just had our first danville meet a couple weeks ago. I met a bunch newer guys. most of them were teens. wasn't too impressed with one guys driving who was leaving as i was arriving. i wonder if it's somebody who came to the meet..

sad outcome to have somebody die. but it sounds like he was putting a lot of other drivers on the road at risk with the speeding and weaving

drive safer people..... all that weaving is just plain stupid

Whoever this boy is... Not to disrespect but speeding and weaving through traffic especially on 24 where the roads aren't THAT great... Stupidity at its finest. I drive 24 everyday and its almost always busy... Drive safe everyone.. Freeway isn't an open track where you can do whatever and have a better chance at staying alive.
RIP dude.. His parents needed to give a reality check before handing him a brand new car.

Indeed. Only silver lining here is he only hurt himself and no others...

17 year old and 2014 subaru impreza. sorry to sound like an d1ck, but what were his parents thinking? Thats why young kids aren't suppose to drive nice new fast cars. They should need to earn it, not given. Also rather his life, than for him to take other innocent lives.

^^. Hellah disturbing, but I used to the same stuff when I was a teen. I look back at it and thankful that wasn't my end. My wife also has a friend that got in a car crash from street racing, but is paralyzed for life. The CHP back where used to live on So Cal hosted events to stop street racing at a local drag strip, maybe we need more programs like that

One thing to notice these days, is that most cars that are newer are fast. And they aren't that expensive.

This isn't the days of having to spend 40k for a fast car. But it also puts more responsibility of the parents to teach the kids right. There is less margin for error these days.

I remember driving my integra like i stole it as a kid. Cars are much faster today. Take my same attitude then, with a car in todays world in that price range.......bad news

I just looked around the news. Not to be an *** but he looks like a typical teen who gonna brag about it all. Anyways.

Sucks for the family and death is the worst but sometimes. You gotta give them a car to learn first in before giving them a faster car or if they do. Let them participate in safer events at a track or something.

I remember driving like I didn't give a flying **** as a teen. I look back at those days a realize how lucky I am.

My son is only 4 but when he drives I'm putting a limiter on his car. Enough power to merge then fall on it's face at 70.

Rip kid

I started with a gutless 96' 4 cylinder Dakota. Although I hated it, I loved it. Taught me to drive a manual, and the physics involved with automobiles. All preparation for the Subaru. Thank goodness I didn't have this car 10 years ago. It's arguable If I would be alive.

First of all, what is an Isuzu Impreza (caption for the 2nd photo)??

Approximate location where Anthony Grosso, lost control of a 2014 Isuzu Impreza on eastbound Highway 24 east of the central Lafayette exit about 11 a.m. Thursday. Photo: Google Maps
Second, I drive to/from WC all the time...it is not exactly a curvy unpredicatble mountain road, he must have been really messing around for that to happen

Lastly, if parents’ were the ones that gave the 17 year old a $30k 280hp sports car, then they are just as much at fault here. They either didn’t ingrane responsibility/appreciation for such a possession or they failed to recognize the potential consequences. This situation sucks. I am always sad to see loss of life, but it doesn’t mean I have to feel bad for people that effectively set up this outcome. Everyone made their choices; now they have to live with the results.

Sad to see a young life gone. RIP.

The article said 2014 Impreza, not WRX. Hard to blame the parents if they bought him a new Impreza that has 148 HP and cost 18k. For all we know, they wanted to get him a reliable, fairly cheap and safe new car that he could drive for the next 10 years.
