I just saw a a commercial with all sortsa club stuff... and in the middle of it all there's this silver wrx wagon being driven around. At the end its something to do with DJ Madame Mercury ... and then somethin about the Joseph Campbell Foundation.
Anyone ever heard of DJ Madame Mercury?
Anyone have a FREAKIN CLUE as to what the commercial is about? heh

I'd heard about it but had to go to the jcf.org website, as I didn't know about the Joseph Campbell Foundation.
If you don't know about Joseph Campbell, he was a philiosopher and comparative religions expert who through studying different religions around the world, came up with a lot of the modern understandings of the role of myth and religion play in relation to morals, ethics and cultures.
One of his big "life guiding" philosophies was summed up in the phrase "follow your bliss"- its actually a bit more involved than that, but essentially his belief was that humans who have respect for others and a solid ethical basis should pursue those interests thet give them personal satisfaction, and that the greater social good can be acheived when consious individuals take direction from their own moral compass.
I still haven't seen the add, but I expect they are showing someone (DJ Madame Mercury) who is doing just that, constributing to the welfare of her community and culture by pursuing "her bliss" -what she gets off on- namely driving her WRX wagon and DJ'ing.
With tax time coming up, non-profits are looking to make their presence known to those that might be in a position to contribute and take the tax deduction.
Leaving the rest of us to "follow our bliss"

Although she isn't on here, Madame Mercury does in fact drive a silver WRX. I do the illustration work for her albums, fliers, label, etc.
She's a world recognized breaks DJ and manages her own record label. Done gigs in Spain, Canada and all over the US (Florida loves her). www.madamemercury.com
That commercial freaked me out. I didnt know she had done that PSA and I flipped thru the channels the other night and caught the end of the commercial with her/my logo splayed across the end. I thought I had a lawsuit on my hands
before I found out she was involved.

OOOOOOoohh! You know I've seen Campbell's lectures on TV. (I went to the website and recognized his face). I have a degree in Medieval Studies, and it seems whenever I've seen his lectures on TV he was also focused on medieval symbolism and mythology. So I assumed he was some renowned Medieval Studies professor.
Very intelligent guy... as for his personal conclusions, I tend to be less interested in that than in his knowledge and interpretation of the history of symbolism and mytholgy.
