Hiyo,
I'm ordering my laptop soon. HP business notebook nc6230. It's a 14.1 inch screen. I just don't know if i should get an SXGA or XGA. S is superfine right? Should be TINY on a 14.1? Thanks.

according to dell's website for their 600M which is also a 14.1 inch screen:
XGA = 1024x768 pixels
SXGA+ = 1400x1050 pixels
I think a regular SXGA and not the SXGA+ should be 1280x1024
It is up to your preference. I think the best way is to go into a store and find out what xga and sxga looks like and make your choice.

i run sxga+ on my inspiron 600m, with a 14.1 inch screen. i think it's a great hi-res to screen readibility compromise. text is very sharp, and it looks even better than the 17 inch CRT i have at work.

when it comes to laptops its all about screen real estate.
1024x768 just isnt enough when you are running multiple applications at the same time.
Unless you like to maximize all of your application to the full screen size.
Unless the difference in $$ is an issue.. go with the SXGA.
I run 1400x1050 on my IBM thinkpad and i find that even that isnt enough space at times fro certain applications. I Run in a relatively small font.. so its not a large font that contributes to my lack of space. I will continue to do so while my eyesight permits
