Dirt/Gravel = very, very fun

man... if you've only driven your subaru on the pavement, you are seriously missing out. Doing a 180 with all 4 wheels blazing the opposite direction and clawing for traction, powersliding around a graveyard of 50 gallon drums whew!

Anyone know of any really big offroading, or rather flat offroad places in the bay area. I had a real blast this afternoon with just a small construction site they leveled out. I'm wondering if gravel tears up your tires more or less than pavement though?

you want to see off road just look at my photo gallery.

I my trip yesterday I flew at about 60/70 on a dirt road around an overpass to pass some traffic that was going over the overpass. Good times...though I did here many many rocks smashing off the underpart of my car...need some mud flaps to do stuff like that on a regular basis or you are just asking for a paintless car.

Offroading doesn't really tear up your tires all that much. It can ding your paint, if there're rocks. If it's just dirt, it washes off, although it can be kind of a pain to find it all.

Oh, I should point out that it also depends on how you drive. If you're pitching the car full-on-sideways, you're going to kick up a lot more stuff than if you drive with it more in line. Admittedly, full sideways is more fun. I tend to drive pretty mildly in the dirt in my Subaru, but get me in a RWD car and look out!

I have found some awesome dirt roads out up in the hills that we have explored looking for great touge spots. They are like normal small mountain courses, but dirt roads. SO much fun just getting PITCHED through the corners and bringing it backed to get pitched right again. It gets me excited just thinking about it.
