Thumbs up Diffuser, stock or aftermarket?

Since I got rear ended a week or so ago, my car sustained a bit of damage, some rear bumper damage and my rear diffuser got pwn3d. I have the insurance co covering the cost of everything, I know that OEM parts are sometimes more expensive then aftermarket ones, so I was thinking about aftermarket rear diffusers.. Do you think i could get a decent aftermarket one for the price of a stock one? I would like a larger one that stands out a bit, but I'm a big fat n00b when it comes to body kits and parts so I don't have the slightest clue as to what is good or not. From google I learned that they can go anywhere from $50 to $900. It doesn't need to be carbon fiber, but I think that it would be cool to have one, I figure that the price of the stock diffuser + paint will amount to roughly the same as a carbon fiber one.

I know we have some aero experts on board that know what's good and what's bad, can you give me some advice on what to do? I like the diffuser look, and I've seen some aftermarket ones that look REALLY cool! I'm not talking about the ones that are huge and go around the entire rear bumper, I'm talking about the ones that are like stock but only bigger (have bigger fins and are wider).

I appreciate the advice!

Ow! How much does it cost?

It's hard to tell from the pic, but the diffuser doesn't extend past the last fin, right? What i mean is, it's just one piece which is small and much narrower then the entire bumper, right? I don't like the ones that extend all the way from side to side of bumper.

EDIT: OUUUUUUUUCH! $700 on the low side, much too expensive! It looks nice, but not THAT nice!

I think I've only seen one varis kit on a bugeye here in the states. I think retailing at over 10K lol.

I know a few people who have varis on their evo's.

it's legit stuff =)

Oh wow! That's exactly what I was imagining in my head! That's beautiful! Flows so nicely and isn't all exaggerated.

I wonder how much a stock diffuser + hardware and such + paint would cost... I wonder if it's anywhere near that priced (of $500ish)

The Seibon one looks really good too, but looks kinda long, wonder if it will fit under the diff and stuff?

Much better price at just under $400 Seems much more reasonable

WOW! I thought the stock diffuser was much more expensive! Look at this deal from cusco, comes with the diffuser and a rear diffuser subframe to stiffen up the rear, for $224.99 for everything included! Comes with:

http://www.cimotorsports.net/motor-s...u-wrx-sti.html

Items included in Diffuser Kit:
-Cusco Rear Subframe Bar x1
-Cusco Diffuser Bracket Set x1
-Diffuser Bolts x4
-OEM Diffuser x1

Fits:
02-07 Impreza WRX
04-07 STI

This is perfect for the WRX owners without the diffuser. I guess I'll stick with the stock one since it isn't so damn expensive!

"Secondly, the brace can be used with the bracket kit to retrofit the '06 STi diffuser on the older Impreza models to help with aerodynamics. "

does that mean it could work on a gc?

Sadly the GD model is now considered the older model.

I dunno, you gotta remember that they are Japanese and a lot of times their spelling and translations are JACKED! lol I dont think it would work on a GC, I just dont see it working. I've had a 2000 GC for almost 10 years now and am very familiar with it's ***.
