Another idea is to buy a box of Hamburger Helper and a $2 bottle of wine. Impress her with your cooking and then put on a movie. Girls love it when guys can cook.

Well, you are asking for a strategy here and it all depends what you want the outcome to be. If you are looking for a quick lay there's one strategy but if you are looking for something longer term than one night, that's a different strategy.
I can help you out with both but you'd need to let me know what you are looking for other than the obvious.

My advice is to NOT take her out to a movie. You just sit next to each other and you won't even get to talk or make a first move unless you pull the yawn/arm stretch maneuver which is so lame.

Take her to something that will make her night memorable. For example a gun range. It's not too expensive and there are still a lot of people who haven't fired a gun. Unfortunately, you need to have gone before b/c some places won't let you in unless there's at least half of the group experienced (that is unless you want HER to show you how to fire a gun). Some other ideas are sky diving or bungee jumping. There's also fishing too and it's much cheaper and lasts a long longer than any of the aforementioned. You'll get to see if she can catch, clean and cook fish for you. If she can do all 3, she's a keeper (not the fish, the girl!).

In all seriousness, if the girl likes you, you don't need to spend a dollar on her. She should be spending money on you!!! There are too many girls in this world who expect certain things from a guy just for her to give him the opportunity to spend time with her. We see it all the time when a guy approaches a girl and the first line is "can I buy you a drink?". Shoot, if I was a girl, I wouldn't turn down a free drink. Heck, as a guy, I wouldn't turn down a free drink coming from another dude either. I'd just get the drink and make sure he didn't put something else in it and bail. Anyhow, don't follow the trend to get a girl's interest by buying her things in exchange for her time. I'm not saying that you can get a girl with no money (it can be done but the odds are not in your favor) but don't go all out for a girl who is only going to mess with your wallet.

find the times when the zoo or museums are free and take her there...take walks to parks or somewhere scenic i.e twin peaks, beach, etc...if u want to do something indoors go window shoping or watch a movie at home
