Damaged wire @connector

my car (2002 wrx) started throwing a p0447, so i did some research and checked a connector that is right next to the charcoal box under the rear of the car. turns out one of the wires was completely severed from wear, but really close to the plastic connector so i can't do any stripping/soldering with it. i've included an illustration from a member of another forum that had the same problem. the wire broke at the exact point that is circled. any suggestions? can i somehow remove the terminal from the plastic connector and replace it? any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

You can remove/replace the terminal from inside the connector. I don't know where up here, but there should be a good electronics store around that will have new terminals.

sometimes you can use a small screwdriver to unlock the pin in the connector. it's better to use the proper tool but if you can't find it just mess around a bit, it's already broken :-p.

I believe they are still just molex pins within the connectors.

http://www.action-electronics.com/molex.htm (the tools are towards the bottom of the page)

if its not, you can probably get at it with a small flat head driver.

thanks for the link.

and thanks for the help everyone. i was able to pop the busted wire/pin out of the connector with a miniature flat head. the pin is still usable so i'm just gonna solder it to a bit of wire, solder that to the other end of the the broken wire, and slip it back into the connector.

thanks,
marc
