Cryo Treating Update

I've done a little more work on finding a local Cryo Treating shop and have some good news.

This morning I spoke with the owner of Victor Aviation in Palo Alto. These guys are the greek gods of bay area metal treatment and non-destructive testing.

Cryo Treating: They do small jobs at $8/lb and have a rig that will hold 2500 lbs at a time. They have a setup specifically to do engine blocks, and have (unadvertised) agreements with quite a few national race teams to do various components. If you are wanting to do a small item, they are more than willing however it might have to sit in the shop for a couple of weeks until they have a full load to go into the Cryo freezer. They can do -300 deg treatments no problem. The owner of the company specifically mentioned transmission components as a specialty.

Vibratory Stress Relief Similar results to Cryo Treating, they basically shake the item at a very specific rate to relive tension.

Coating - name it and they do it from ceremic to dry film lubricants

Full Non-Destructive Test Facility Everything from MagnaFlux to Scanning Electron Microscope. If there's a flaw in the metal, they can find it.

In short, we have full Aerospace quality machine shop locally at our disposal at reasonable prices.

Anyone get anything done? I am thinking about doing some rotors.

Anyone have any numbers on mileage gains by cryo-treating rotors?

Lowend, howmany forums did you post this in? You where all over my googles!

Just here and the Camaro forum.
I haven't done anything yet. The gun barrel I was considering turned out to be more trouble than it was worth.

I'll probably do my next set of brake rotors
