Closest Subaru to me is about 1 hr away right now..But theres a Napa Down the street..

You should be ok. The crush gasket design that Subaru uses is a better seal, but the copper... I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just check it the next day.

just my little bit of experience i have just working on general ****, a crusher washer is a crusher washer.

i would imagine it doesnt really matter as long as you have some sort of "gasket" in there.

but i could be totally wrong, i just cant imagine the subaru does something super magically special to their washers that no one else can replicate.

Like I said, you'll be ok. I use copper ones on my car with no issues (not the Subaru, but the Mazda). The Subaru one seems to work well, but as long as you use a crush type gasket (i.e. copper) you shouldn't have issues.

Ya i figured the Copper one should be good, cause when I changed the oil on my BMW it used a Copper Washer..

Ya..I was wondering the samething...Why would there be a difference?..and Would you guys know why Subaru Washers have the groove in the middle?

Here is what the NAPA site says is for the WRX

The groove allows the gasket to crush more, prevents overtorqueing (in theory) and allows the washer to conform to any odd imprefections due to it's increased width. At least that's what an engineer told me.

Next time I come across one of these posts I'm simply saying, "OHHHHH! You are SO screwed!!"
