Crisis/zombie outbreak/safety management idea?
given the large amount of land my parents have, plentiful wildlife to eat and one way in/out is ideal. roads blocked, gonna rock the ATV's. like in my last thread,i can be out of my house fully prepared in less than 5 min. if i HAVE to hold down the fort im good for about a week here. i could feed 10 people for 7 days or less people for more. if your a anti-meat eater your F U C K E D.

What kind of disaster do we have here?
Earthquakes. For me I plan on bugging IN. So that's like an extended camping trip... either in the backyard or front.
Now for a zombie/SARS/ massive society breakdown, find me at the closest Costco. Think about it. Miminal entry points. Lots of emergency exits that could be barricaded. Most have gas stations. Food. Water.

I'm with the Costco idea. We should set up fort inside Costco and when more friendlies arrive, we need an iclub related passcode to make sure we're not zombies....HAHA.
costco IS A fort.
next time you are buying the $1.50 hot dog special. think about that costco you are in.
1. the tire display can be setup to fortify the entrance.
2. make sure you can find the gas generator display. find the closest emergency door to the gas pumps.
3. look up. see if your store has escape hatches that could be used.
4. plus, a full blown costco has a full pharmacy.
it is a city in itself. you have TVs up the ying yang. plus DVDs to watch. lol...
only thing missing? firearms.

Speaking of Costco, I was browsing their site and came upon this: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...rodid=11487214
Apparently they now sell a year's supply of freeze dried food for $1k shipped to your door.

Whoever wants to make a break for the mountains can join in with me. Got a hefty supply of emergency food, water, supplies, and some stuff to be able to start living off the grid.
Hopefully i'll be able to get some more guns later this year. I'd like to purchase a handgun. Otherwise I have my 870 security, some wwii rifles, and my .22.
Wish we had a costco though. Sounds like the perfect place. The place is made of sheet metal to....no glass to break through. lol
I'd try to find out which one Paul would be in. lol
"freshrex" can I come in???

I like the costco idea, but any building that has tilt-up concrete walls you could conceivably drive through with an unarmored vehicle isn't exactly a fort...

True. Has pretty basic defense, but at least its stocked with everything you need to survive. Honestly, i'm already up the hill so you can find me out in the mountains if something were to happen.

I have one of these that I got at a steel of $70.00
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MHR333-1.html
I added some more suture kits, a stapler, water sanitation tablets, 2 epinephrine shots, antihistamine pills, iodine, isopropanol, and some more over the counter drugs.
For bug-out I would take my .22 and my "little" side by side 16 guage.
lots of water and beef jerky! Why a .22 and not something bigger? I can carry 1000 rounds of .22 easy and can make a head shot 1/2 the time at 50 yards (probably less than that under duress)
Cosco would be a sound choice, however doesn't gave guns or ammo I think walmart still does (have not been to one in years)

Maybe it's cheaper than buying a year's worth of MREs???
