if i don't pick this up, someone should. How much to have headgasket fixed?
$1500

Edit: You could part that thing out for more than a grand too. If I had the space and the time I would jump on it for that purpose. Seeing as how I just parted out my WRX it's not that hard but you do need a safe place to keep it and the parts.

Why would you part out a perfectly good car that just needs a head gasket?

Simple economics, greater investment to return ratio. If you bought the car for 500 bucks, you would make a greater profit parting it out than repairing it and reselling it as a full working vehicle.

I parted out my car when it had minor front end damage, it was light enough to not affect the car overall but just to get it back together properly would've cost too much. Made more sense for me to just part it out than dump more money into it.

Right, but if its just a head gasket then it might make sense to replace it and sell the car. You wouldn't need to spend time dismantling parts etc....

A 1500 dollar job on a 2500 dollar car, why do you think he's selling it?

Right but I thought we were talking about if ''we" bought it what would make most sense? I'd do the work my self, head gaskets aren't too bad, 100 buks in parts, and thats for a pair. Suby shops get over on head gasket repair(among other things) and many do-it-you're selfers make a killing on buying & selling these head gasket blown rides.

yes, indeed. I start it about once every other week or so. Put in a new PS pump. Runs and drives as it should. Has had some PPW on the side from getting sideswiped while parked. No actual collision damage.

Good car over all.
