Crack down on street racing..

This is in LA.. Get caught racing and get your car crushed!! I guess it's a good thing.. Just don't want cops to start pulling us over for no reason..

uh...even its street racing...i think thats really stupid and taking it too far. 8 people loosing their lives is nothing..more than 8 people loose their lives from trying to climb stairs or ride a bicycle. (im not supporting street racing) Cops are just too shallow and like to stick to one perspective of everything.

seeing that camaro get smashed make me raff

but if you guys listened to the clip, its not like the cops were pulling people out of their cars and crushing them, the guy forfeit this car in court, it was sent to auction, it was bought buy a non-profit organization and donated back to the city who then crushed it for all the press to see, in other words, a big publicity stunt.

i think 1 person dying from street racing is one too many already, let alone 8.

the state should be spending it's time taking old people off the road, they kill more people every year when they forget which pedal is gas and which is brake.

It's a matter of priorities. The LA police have set street racing high on their list of things to demonize above other more important matters, such as gang shootings. It's nothing new from the town that let Rodney King's attackers go free. Gee that sounds cynical, sorry for the downer.

The confiscation of a car that was street racing was in effect June 2003.

What they should do is put all the car crushing videos on a website. That would be entertaining. Who's gonna be the first STi?

There is something uncostitutional about crushing someone's car because they are caught street racing. Cruel and unusual punishment? C'mon now, we already have 30day impound, fines, driver's license suspension and other ways to punish people other than having to resort to destroying someone's property. The city will get sued, trust me. I don't think they can do this here in the Bay Area.

Lurk ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I like how many times the guy said that they wanted to "send a message." Well, damn, I would want to send a message if I had to jump through so many hoops just to legally get one "racer" to crush
