Costco Optima battery

I heard Costco has some Optima batteries. Do they have the best price for them locally? do they carry/stock the correct ones in both the red and yellow tops? Is group 35(R) the correct one for red and D35 for yellow the correct ones? I'm mainly trying to look for the yellow top that has the best price locally to replace my 5 year old battery in my GC6.

I assume the RS/wrx 5sp/4eats all use the same optima batt?

Costco doesn't carry red top 35 (correct size for subaru).

Try Remybattery.com. They're pretty cheap.

If they don't carry red tops in our size I doubt they'd carry the less universally useful yellow top.

Costco only has the red top, and the only size they have is the 75/35. To use that battery you will need to buy longer battery cables to reach the posts. Another option is to mount the battery on its side and use some screw in battery posts.

Napa auto parts sells Optima batteries. They also sell Orbital batteries that are supposed to be very similar to Optima, but a little cheaper.

I saw some Red-Tops at Autozone that were labeled 75/35-OR for $110, but I haven't found any info on what the "OR" classification denotes. Does it mean the posts are reversed like the 35R?

Got my Group 35 here... very good price, and shipped without a scratch (in a box with extra adapters, surrounded by expanded foam).

Why would a deep cycle be "less universally useful"?

Yellow tops kick ***, especially if you have any high drain electronics on your car- but they usually cost more because of their higher storage capacity

Less universally useful because they have lower CA and CCA numbers than the red top, which are what most consumers really need/want (because they don't plan to deep discharge it).

EVERYONE needs a starter battery, not eveyone needs a deep cycle battery. hence, less universally useful.
