i assume a british auto show would be a bit bias.

Just when i was starting to like domestics the top gear hosts goes and points out all the obvious flaws of domestics.

going in a straight line could be fun with leaf springs silly domestics turning is for imports.

It's not a leaf spring in the classic sence though. It a single, tranverse leaf spring made of very modern composits. That combied with the now standard magnetic damping struts and I guanetee this new C6 will eat an entry level porsche alive, and for a lot less dough. Hell, the Z06 has been know to out handle porsche turbos with a "vietnamese" suspension. English car mags are know for their bias (though I normally like that since I'm a TVR fan ).

Corvettes have used transverse leaf springs in the rear for years. It's not the traditional leaf springs you see on a truck. The spring is mounted transversely so one end of the spring is mounted to the left rear suspension and the right end to the right rear suspension. It is a fully independant suspension. The front uses coil springs. My fathers 66 vette had this and his C5 does too.

I have driven a C5 and my WRX doesn't compare in the grip and torque department. I love my WRX but 350hp, 375lbft, and 1g on the skid pad make for an awesome car to drive.

Oh, and struts aren't exactly new technology.

what made me mad when i watched that was it seemed like they had never seen a corvette before. the corvette has always had transverse leaf springs, and has always been just as good, if not better, than many european cars that cost twice as much. with the corvette, it comes down to the fact that you get what you pay for. 50k gets you a very nice engine and great handling but you sacrifice interior quality. you can pay more than 100k for a 911 and get quality in every category. can you tell i like corvettes

edit: crap Froride1 beat me to the leaf spring thing

Ignorance is bliss I guess.
it really is

and when i say imports i mean everything that doesn't have a domestic name plate. So that would include european brands as well as japanese brands.

Are you talking about imports in the same price range?

Look at the Lotus Exige R, one of the best handling cars europe has to offer, on the nurburgring, even the Exige has a hard time with a properly set-up Z06. Granted, the nurburgring is a high horsepower track, but still.
The Z06 is flat amazing. I have driven a mildly modded '03 for about 3k miles, and it was crazy. You can feel how the car was very thoughtfully built with every corner exit. It has the feeling of being purposely engineered to kick large amounts of ****. I never once had anything less than a huge grin while driving it.

Oh, and.. Who cares what the interior is like when you have things like 3rd gear @ 5krpm? Sheezus.
