Consumerism FTW!

The hospital wasn't even authorized to do transplants and the broker disappeared. Dude just put his kidney on the black market for friggin' electronics.

There is a reason kids aren't allowed to make legal decisions in the US.

I mean, while you can live with only one kidney, IMHO you're better off living without an iPhone than one of your kidneys. Perhaps it is the way Reuters reported the story, but the motivation seemed to be fiscal in nature, and its not like this was being done at Stanford.

hmmm... a horrible way of doing things yes. but i still stand by my original thought. he's alive, going to keep someone alive (it's going to cost them an arm and a leg), and he has apple products... altho they're already 1/4 into their product life cycles.

Sorry, my editing skills were slow. It's not like this was being done by stanford. Lack of quality care for him, the kidney, and the recipient could cost them both their lives. While I agree that the cost of healthcare is ridiculous, there are protocols that quality places follow to help ensure safety. For some reason I get the feeling that the black market doesn't care much for patient wellbeing after they've got their money

You have to think though, people do have the option to give away parts they dont need. If there was a market for purchasing organs, I'm sure there would be more lives saved. Sadly, that leaves the poor folks unable to bid high enough...

But really, I don't understand how it's illegal to put your own organ up for sale.

That ipad will be obsolete WAAAAAAYYYY before his other kidney will. And where is he gonna get the money to pay the iphone service monthly?

There are many other ways to get money... that boy has problems.

Why not throw in a few other organs to completely pay for an FR-S outright?
