Dont get a dell unless u want a power supply that will die on you and then you gotta buy the proprietary dell power supplies. You cant use a univeral power supply on their computers!

what happened with your powersupply? did it just die? dell offers an upgradable 430watt Power supply
Computer's are just like cars - you have to take care of them and maintain them. Don't let them get clogged with dust and you'll be fine.

Only some of them are proprietary - the majority of them require a little bit of modification to put in a regular power supply. I've had mine running for a good 6 months.

You can get a great machine for $800 w/o monitor.
If you don't need a lot of processing power for game play, you can go with a lesser CPU. The top of the line is a 8MB Cache Quad Core... but you can get away with using a 2MB Dual Core.
Just so you have an idea: I have a Dell Inspiron (Forgot which model of Inspiron) and it has a 2MB Core 2 Duo. I plugged in my own PCI-E card (7900GT, before they came out with the 7950, which the 7950 seems to be a lesser card). I can run 1080p videos. I can also play Half-Life 2 with everything turned on and max anti-aliasing.
So, I just tried to price out a computer w/o monitor and it comes out to $759 before taxes and shipping. You'll have to look around for what you really want.
