chp's using laser more often now?

So I was driving back home from frisco to sac and I got a speeding ticket at vacaville. I was going 87-90 mph w/ escort 8500 on.. I sudden go this laser notification in a split second..and to later see a motorcycle cop ahead of me hop back on his motorcycle and pulled me over. He said he got me with the laser gun at 87, but he cite me at 80. Still sucked, but it lessens the fine.

Whatever, I was speeding nothing I can do about it..but I was wonder if anyone has any experience with laser hammers? I guess its time for me to upgrade.

Im thinking the same thing... I've seen cops with LIDAR guns on 680 like 6-7 times in the last month!

One night my wife and I were driving to Fremont from San Jose and were on 680N near McKee... I wouldn't normally mention it but the cop parked in the TINY shoulder next to the fast lane AT NIGHT TIME with NO lights on WHAT SO EVER. Only reason I saw him is because my HID's picked up his reflectors from a distance. I wasn't speeding so I didn't get tagged but if I was speeding he would have gotten me cuz I didn't see him till the last second.

It was a really stupid move on the officers part. I almost called 911 to report his stupid *** for causing such a dangerous situation. The shoulder is barely wider than his car so anyone that veers off into the shoulder will NAIL that cop car and probably the cop. If it was in the day time that would be one thing but this was in the black of night and he didn't have a SINGLE light on... Just standing there lasering people.

I wonder what they would have done if I would have called 911 on him? I would have if it wasn't a cop because it was a very dangerous spot to be stopped, let alone standing out in the pitch black with no lights on. WTF was he thinking!?

PS: I got a ticket a few days ago... 3am coming home from Danville... Cop comes up on my *** without his lights on!!! I didn't even see him until he lit me up. No headlights or anything! Is that even legal? How can they drive on the freeway at 3am with no lights on? I was the only car on the road otherwise, he still gave me the ticket.

how can they drive with out their light on you ask? because they know it's a pain in the *** process for them to get caught guilty doing it. the police that police the police usually do a worse job at policing the police then the bad police officers that need to be policed.

Yeah, I nearly had a heart attack when he lit me up 10 feet from my bumper while going 90 in the pitch black, no lights what so ever until he lit up everything he had, spotlights, blue and reds, as well as flashing headlights so I know his lights werent broken. He said something over his loud speaker but I couldn't understand it (way distorted), turns out he was telling me to get off on the next exit. I tried to be nice and respectful... He wasn't really pissed or anything because I was literally the ONLY car on the road at the time besides the lightless cop! I wish I had it on video, get that bastard fired.

Yeah have to agree, 280 has been infested with Lidar using Chippers. I will rarely have a run in with one using Ka. It is really hard to use the laser gun at night and get an accurate reading. So usually it's going to be Ka or you'll be paced.

To the OP what are you going to upgrade to.. Anything that detects Lidar is getting a single beam or possible scatter that is very rare. Once you're tagged basically you're f'ed. Only thing I can see you getting is a Lidar jammer. Blinder M25? But still you're running the risk that we can get your speed regardless. I mean if you jam an officer's laser twice he's gonna question your car. I mean it's possible but I haven't found any benefits.

THIS SUCKS.

Valentine 1 all the way!

Yeah, SO many more CHP and City PD on the road lately. My V1 picks them up though. RARELY does my V1 not pick them up. If I recall, maybe 2 out of 10 times on the highway does my V1 not pick their signal up.

Just don't speed and you'll be fine...

Well are you saying the V1 picks up Lidar? Cause if so you're already being hit. Scatter is a slim chance.

If you're speeding with laser, V1s won't help, you just have to be lucky.

A little over a month ago, I was driving down to SoCal up the grapevine. Going pretty fast, easily faster than traffic, and as I rounded a corner saw a motorcycle cop sitting with his gun up as his face. No V1 warning but since laser has such a small cone, if he doesn't aim specifically at you, he won't get your speed. Luckily for me, he was busy aiming at other cars. Scared the crap out of me, hahah.

Oh and does anyone else have an annoying problem with any Infiniti FXs? If those things are anywhere near me, my Lidar goes off non-stop until I get away from them. Whenever I hear my lidar go off I look for an Infiniti before I look for a cop.

could be automatic sensors or back up cameras that set it off. i dont have any issues with my escort. although ive had my spark plugs set it off and my CB once.

I got a better one for you. I'm leaving a neighborhood and had to cross 2 oncoming lanes to get to the outer lanes going up a hill. So i get across and into the fast lane of the other side of the road and some jackass far behind in the slow lane decides to jump into the fast lane where i just entered and GUN IT! So i see this in my mirror and say oh %^&* so I floor it to avoid being rear ended.

Soon after i let off the gas and I hit around 59 mph in a 40 zone. So i'm still progressing up the hill still jammin pretty good and a cop hiding on the side of the road RUNS out into the middle of the road and waives me down. I can see if it was distant ahead but this mother effer made me brake pretty hard to stop in time. He stopped all traffic going up the hill by running into the middle of the road. Tell me where you see the cops great idea to run out in the middle of the street to stop a speeding car? I should have ran him over and say he was an idiot for putting himself in that position. Take that back bad idea. But he got me with lidar at 57 in a 40, and i got a ticket. =(

I have that problem with my v1. I do the same thing, as soon as it goes off for lidar, I look around for an infinity first and usually, there is one right next to me.

To be honest, I'm not sure about Lidar, but more than most of the time, my V1 will pick them up WAY before I get to their area, giving me at least a 10 second window to look for the threat...not that I speed.. but I'm not saying the V1 is perfect in any way and detects everything

V1 is a great radar detector, but once the officer hits you with the laser. your done. I've gotta say my Escort has done me well for 7+ years..and the warning i got was no more than a second. "Laser" just popped up for barely a second and i didn't have anytime slowing down. the CHP got me dead on the speed..

anyways now i'll be waiting for a courtesy letter for a bill of $214 oh well..lesson learned, pigs are more equipped now.
