Choppers 2nd leg surgery

A lot of you know chopper and know he had TPLO surgery about 2 years ago. Well, things have not been 100% since and he ended up going to surgery again today.

Surgery was at the Adobe Animal hospital in Los Altos. I high recommend that place simply because they allow you to be with your animal throughout any procedure to help lessen the stress. I was by Choppers side through the whole process. Anesthesia and actual Surgery. I never left his side and was able to hold his paw through the whole process. He knew I was there.

Surgery went well. He had the TPLO plate removed and had some minor issues with his meniscus. We hope this is it and hope he will be able to at least walk with no pain.

Here's a little video of him getting prepped and put under. He's a such a good dog.

Hopefully the second surgery helps! How do they rate as a regular vet clinic? Strictly western medicine or do they incorporate holistic/proper diet theories too? I'm right near Los Altos so if they are good, I'll look into them for my guy.

I meant to reply to this earlier but for some reason my post didn't go through

He was in my prayers last night and was thinking about him all day. My poor chubs, I hope his recovery goes well and you're the man for being at his side for the whole procedure. Good job man! Chopper needs support like that, you know how he is.

The weird part was she injured both legs at virtually the exact same location on the path at Fort Funston. It was running and stopping while going down hill in sand that did it.

She recovered 100% from both op's, still goes to Funston every day and Saturday she walked from SF City College to Delores Park.

Being real careful during rehab is key.

Strictly from a financial point of view, several thousands of dollars for an old dog is a poor investment.

The investment was made a few years back when it would have been plain cruel not to do it.

It's only money. One spends his money in ways that make him happy, not others.

My point was the procedure can be and was successful and my dog has now lived a long and happy life, while showing no signs of slowing down.

From a 'strictly financial' point of view pets are a poor investment generally.

They live just long enough to weave themselves into the fabric of your life then leave.

Wait! don't kids do the same thing?
