Cheating?

Okay, this question came up between some friends.

Is it cheating to use equipment that enhances your play beyond what you are normally capable of? Does it matter if no one gets hurt, there is no money on the line and no one cares about the final score?

My buddy found some golf ***** that say they fly "75% straighter". I could care less if he uses them if we go out. He won't touch his driver other wise and is slow as hell dinking up the fairway with his irons.

Game is more fun, moves along at a better pace... just as long as he understands if he gets a lower score, he didn't "beat" me.

If you have access to the same "equipment" then its your fault.

but if he is using equipment not set as a "standard" then its cheating.

Its like playing baseball, but when its his turn to bat, you are playing with a different ball that is lighter and able to hit it farther than you.

What ball he uses don't brake the rules, that's why people get fitted for golf *****. What you use and what I use might be diffrent. As long as he uses that ball for the entire hole

Even if the ball is outside of USGA regulations?

Is this USGA sanctioned? Who cares? If it makes for better playing with the both of you i say do it. If he starts running off at the mouth, then change it

I doubt it will go strait. that happens because the face is open.

most of the time when playing golf its just about hanging out with friends, and driving drunk in golf carts. I do not think I used to keep score on those rounds.

but if he is keeping track and rubbing your face in it, make sure to kick his ball into the water hazards.

If they fit the rules... it ain't cheating...

If you are playing a "gentlemen's game" well than just play with the same ball

That's like asking, "Is it wrong to use lube when you can just stick it in, even if no one really gets hurt and there's no money on the line, and no one cares about the "final score"?"

Like someone stated, it's all good if you have access to the same stuff because it's your fault you don't have it. If you "don't really care" you wouldn't be posting this thread. Lol

You can apply this question to so many different situations. You be the judge.

My take is its kind of theoretical for mere mortals like us. I still use a High-COR driver i picked up in Singapore years ago, theoretically it gives me an advantage, but you will know thats not the reality when you watch me snap-hook into a lake, or top it so badly the ball doesnt clear the ladies tee...

Apparently, they are pretty awesome.

Polara Golf Home | No-Slice Golf Ball

And for the record, I am the one that "doesn't care" and he is the one that is worried that it is "cheating". I told him to buy the damned things so we could have an enjoyable round.

Oh, well if cares so much he shouldn't use them if he's that worried. I'd say have him buy em and if he looses you know it's not the ***** fault.
