cheapest way to get WRX from Cali to R.I.?
I am relocating to the east coast for work and do not want to drive my baby all the way (3k plus miles.)
So driving aside the cheapest way I have found is to rent a truck to pull a trailer. Around 800$.
I haven't found any car carrier companies that come close.
I am seriously considering driving it but I paid it off and am against putting on so many miles. Any advice?
Uggh at driving cross country alone.

i'll go home tonight and try to find the paper work and pm you with it if you want.
but my advice is that if you're going to rent a truck and trailer you should do that because you can fit more than just a car in the trailer...you can move all your personal items too which will really cut down your costs. moving my furniture was a lot more than moving my car. either way it's all tax deductible

Dude think of the stuff you could see on the way. I've always wanted to do the cross country thing. Make a trip of it, save receipts, and deduct the gas and mileage on your car!
Wow, everybody's moving out.
I towed my car behind a U-Haul when I moved to Vancouver, but it's not exactly the ideal situation. The big problem is weight -- at 3200 pounds your car uses up a big portion of the GVWR of whatever you'll be using to tow it. Lucky for me I didn't have much to put in the truck, but I still had trouble going up Shasta with a half load + WRX. Also the gas mileage sucked more than usual -- about 8 miles to the gallon as it wasn't a diesel truck.
Also those 3K miles aren't exactly "free" -- you still end up with rock chips and dirt on your car at the end of it all...
Actually, getting somebody to drive it for you isn't that bad of a plan...
Or just buy another car when you get there.

Another vote for drive it, or move yourself and tow it behind you. Did the second option when I moved out here to CA back in 1998 (from Houston, 2000 miles). Got a V8 Ryder truck that was plenty to haul the car+trailer+stuff in truck, but NOT much bigger than that. Net result is I got 11-12 MPG in the truck, no miles on the car (it got dirty since I was rained on by about 8-9 INCHES of rain over the course of the trip.....seriously!), and got to see some of the USA.
Also note that many companies that pay for relocation will have a cash option if you move yourself. It is pretty easy to come out AHEAD by $4-5K if you do the work of moving yourself. That was the case for me, and let's just say it was a profitable week out of my life to move

Drive it. Grab a friend to bring with you...buy em a one way ticket home. would be fun and you can visit places...me....I'd visit ski resorts the whole way over...many as I can ....take the long way...through the north down through wash/ore.
Either that or put it on a train. Or rent yourself one of those big moving trucks and put it inside and drive it across that way if you don't want the miles on the wrx.
