Cheapest camera mount yet

I've been using this bad boy for a while now. Works pretty well considering. Thought I'd share.

Consists of a cheap tripod, a piece of velcro, and a napkin.

It's hard to tell from the pics, but the camera's strap holds one side, and the napkin keeps it from banging against the headrest.

acutally i think a piece of wood with a couple holes for the head rest and a bolt to mount the camera to would be cheaper than that small tripod

Probably so, but that sounds like a lot of effort. I already had this stuff. Didn't cost me a penny. This is quick, and easy. It stores in the glovebox easily too. It's not going to impress anyone but it took better video footage than my friend's $150 setup. (His camera's video sux0r) Considering I use this 0.5% of the time I figure that's $150 better spent on some other upgrade.

I'd seen a lot of the home-made mounts on the net. All were way too much work, or required a drill press.

btw, the tripod was $10 iirc.

I like mine better. Just as cheap (the gimble mount can be expensive, but its worth it) using a bolt, two nuts and a cylindrical washer for $.25 and it doesnt rattle or make noise or do much of any moving

What kind of Impreza do you have?

Basically, theres a little tab on my 95 that pops off in the back there that has a nut with a hole under it thats welded to the frame. I used a bolt for the gimble mount and then used two nuts to hold the bolt in place and just screw the gimble mount on.

I like the chase cam, I would like to pick up a small cam like that. I have been using my I/O port racing camera mount for years and it's been great. Folds up and fits in the glovebox, yet holds my last 3 cameras just fine. Sticks to the back window or wherever of any car, and has never let me down. Amazingly vibe free as well for just one suction cup.
