The July 31st event will be held on temporary street circuit around the HP Pavilion. While street circuits aren't my favorite venue, it'll be nice to see the Champ Cars racing so close to home. The last time I saw them was at Laguna Seca back in 1989. I'm hoping that the usual support races will also be in attendance.

I mentioned this back in October, but no one believed me, although my time frame was a little off.

City politicians working for you - to bring professional open wheel racing to your town!

"The Champ Car circuit will race for the first time on a downtown street course in July after the city council approved a measure Tuesday to help fund the event.
San Jose will be the eighth stop next year for the open-wheel series. The race, scheduled July 31, will take place around the HP Pavilion and surrounding downtown streets.
According to the council's plan, San Jose and the San Jose Redevelopment Agency will provide $650,000 of the estimated $3 million needed to install and remove temporary race barriers and make street improvements."
