A certain ebay timc...
and on a serious note, i know someone who just bought an ebay FMIC for 300 bucks shipped.
and it came with everything he needed. only thing he didnt like and replaced were the couplers because they were cheap. but other than that it was great.
showing that cheap things can still be good. and he is pushing about 300whp on his stock 2.0L wrx motor.
also people forget about how helix was this cheap costing brand... and they produced quality parts (for a while)

And yea I would get a new splitter and modify it - running with no splitter probably isn't a good idea. Where about would one find an aftermarket splitter?
Yeah that's exactly what I'm saying
Thing you have understand is fmic is kinda like the vf series - both got bad reputations early on the Subaru community b/c people were not good at setting them up, just kinda slapped them on and the state of tuning at the time wasn't that great either, and their lag/lack of power has propogated over the last 5 years as largely a myth. (with some truth of course)Really it boils down to how much money you got. But definately I think you will have good results with your tmic if you mod the heatshield and wrap the turbo in addition to what we discussed with the splitter.
I think most people get the STI splitter and trim around the edges to accomodate the taller core.
I say go w/ the ebay but beware that the difference w/ ebay parts is not quality but quality CONTROL - you're more likely to get manufacturing defects, although I had ordered an exhaust that had cracks and the ebay company replaced mine for free
