catted downpipe or no cats??

so I have an 07 WRX and im planning on goin stage 2. I will be buying either a catted or non catted DP and cobb AP in the near future. I have heard from a few people that a catted downpipe would be the safest way to go along with the AP. They told me that a non catted downpipe will just cause a sh*tload of problems and boost spike even with an AP. Anybody have any input, better yet experience with DPs on 07s? Thanks in advance.

Eitherway, they're both illegal. So why not go non-catted?

Ive wanted a catless DP ever since I started modding my car. Im just asking if a catless DP will give me boost spike up the a$$?cobb recommends that 07 owners go with a catted DP over a catless or get a new restrictor pill from SOA if I do go with a catless DP along with engine management.

i have an 07 and just got Stromung TBE catted. It is fine with AP maps out of the box and have no problems at all. I love the sound and power it has. I don't think I need anymore at this time because I am not running track or anything. So it really depends on what you're doing with your car. If it is all for fun, then yes be nice to the environment like Snooby says.

i have a catted dp and ap on my 05. i am happy with the power from my stage 2 setup. i heard it is easy to spot a catless exhuast from the smell and look of your exhaust fumes . i.e. "pull-me-over" sign. i have no noticable smell or fumes with my catted. plus i like the piece of mind knowing that i can be at stage 2 and still pass emissions. and yes, i know it won't pass the visual inspection.

I originally wanted to go with a catless dp but I decided not to for a few reasons...

1. It's obvious when you are running catless, whether I'm driving behind a suby or non-suby I can tell the catless smell right off the bat and if a cop smells it thats no bueno.

2. Emissions, I still manage to pass smog with a full 3'' tbe running a high flow cat on my tuned map, less work swapping out dp's for smog = good.

3. My muffler is like 1cm away from my bumper and didn't feel like turning my bumper black just for a few whp.

If we had no emissions laws here and cops didn't care I'd throw on a catless dp for sure though. Trust me you do NOT want to get stuck with a gross polluter ticket, wayy more than what the dp will cost you.

go catless, both illegal, and with a good tune your car will be fine. plus high flow cats will die sooner or later they last shorter than the stock cats.
