Catless

Alright, So I finally went catless. I have a HKS DP matched up to the stock exhaust. Everything seems to have matched up.

A friend of mine was catless a little while ago, but I didn't remember his being that loud. I was wondering if being catless is really supposed to be THAT loud.

Shouldn't be loud if you have stock cat back. It should be just a little louder than stock. If it's loud, you may have an exhaust leak.

By loud I mean as loud (if not louder) than SoggyNoodless' car, and he has a VF34 set up :\

I'll check it tomorrow morning again, but I'm pretty sure it's all clean cut.

yeah, it should only be a lil louder than stock if you still have a stock catback . . . you shouldnt be able to really hear any difference except for a louder turbo spool

Blah, I found out the problem. I used the stock DP - Exhaust bolts. I had to go to OSH and get some new ones that would hold everything tighter.

What bolts did you replace? The dp to catback or the dp to turbo?
So was it a major noise reduction?

from DP to catback, and YES, it was a major noise reduction. Before that my car sounded pretty much cut off at the dp!

Did it for a few days. It's insanely loud, but not as throaty as the DP alone. My sounded hella mean with the gap there.

Open turboback: TD04 turbo was almost lag free, I was goin through 1-3 like it was nothing, and since the turbo was spooling up so fast, the powerband was great all the way through!

Open DP: Almost the same, sounds meaner, and everyone once in a while you'll hear a nice "Poof".

you might have a leak from dp to cat-back.

I'm thinking of running a Helix UP and DP with stock catback soon too. Any downside other than losing some power compared to a full turbo-back? Thanks.
