I want to see how many are interested in a run to Tahoe to do some skiing/riding on the slopes. Mid-week is best (no crowds=more ride time) plus many resorts offer mid week specials for for the financially impaired. I figured we could meet up somewhere on the Penninsula and plan a few hot spots for peeps to jump in the caravan, I.E. East Bay, Sac, ECT. Now it could be done a couple of ways, we could leave mid day get some cheap rooms in southlake and ride the next day, or just do a an "EARLY"[6-7am departure] morning sprint and come back the same night. I have done this many many times, it makes for one helluva long day. So chime in and give your thoughts.

I will be going on Saterday or Sunday for a day trip to Kirkwood or Sugarbowl. Probably it will be Saterday to Kirkwood. I'd be down with a caravan, I'm starting in the south bay obviously. I'll update this on Friday afternoon as to exactly when and where I'm going...maybe we could set a time and a lift to meet at? Anyway...good luck to everyone getting up to the slopes, it'll be worth it when you do.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RENO NV
330 PM PST TUE JAN 4 2005
GREATER LAKE TAHOE AREA-...
...ANOTHER POWERFUL WINTER STORM POSSIBLE BY THIS WEEKEND OVER THE
EASTERN SIERRA AND EXTREME WESTERN NEVADA.
A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OFF THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA COAST IS FORECAST
TO MOVE ONSHORE THURSDAY NIGHT BRINGING AREAS OF RAIN AND SNOW TO
WESTERN NEVADA AND THE EASTERN SIERRA. SNOW LEVELS COULD INITIALLY
START OUT ABOVE THE VALLEY FLOORS THURSDAY NIGHT BUT WILL DROP ON
FRIDAY AS A COLD FRONT APPROACHES THE AREA.
AN INTENSE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OFF THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST COAST BY FRIDAY NIGHT WHILE ABUNDANT PACIFIC MOISTURE AND
A STRONG JET STREAM PUSHES INTO THE SIERRA. THIS WEATHER PATTERN
WOULD BE FAVORABLE FOR PRODUCING A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HEAVY
SNOWFALL IN THE SIERRA AND INTO THE VALLEYS OF NORTHEAST CALIFORNIA
AND EXTREME WESTERN NEVADA. THIS PATTERN WOULD BE SIMILAR TO THE
DECEMBER 30 AND 31 SNOWSTORM...WITH SEVERAL FEET OF SNOW
ACCUMULATION LIKELY IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE SIERRA. IN THE
VALLEYS AND FOOTHILLS...SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATION IS ALSO
POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY IN AREAS WEST OF HIGHWAY 395.
PEOPLE PLANNING TRAVEL IN THE SIERRA OR WESTERN NEVADA LATER THIS
WEEK AND INTO THE WEEKEND SHOULD MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS FROM
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ON THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS WEATHER
SITUATION. DRIVING CONDITIONS MAY BE COMPLICATED BY EXISTING HEAVY
SNOW COVER IN THE VALLEYS OF WESTERN NEVADA AND NORTHEAST CALIFORNIA.
PREPARATIONS FOR THIS STORM SHOULD BE COMPLETED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
looks like ***** nature kicked the storm door wide-the-f*** open!!! sure glad i have plans to ride fri & sat!!!
as for a future date on a snow resort meet: OneManArmy(aka ThePowderHound) & me are looking to set up a weekend overniter to bear valley. the crowds are generally nothing to worry about there as compared to "bigger" resorts. plus, lift tix @costco are $70 for a pair(so $35ea AND valid any day is a helluva deal).
i'd be down for other resorts as well.
