How much is your comprehensive deductible? I keep mine at $150 just for these reasons - and it generally (unless you have a lot of comprehensive claims in the past 3 years) doesn't increase your insurance by a significant amount.

I get text alerts from Richmond/San Pablo PD, they sent me one warning that there's been a sudden increase in break ins for my 'hood. Guess all we can say is "Tis the season".
