Can you guys recommend decent coilovers for the bay area?

I don't do track days anymore, and no auto-x...

I basically want really stiff coilovers because I like to take corners really hard and the stock suspension is killing me. I do canyon runs and such mostly.

Would also like them to lower my car.

I'm not looking to spend an ***-ton of money.

Can you guys help me out? I'm way out of teh loop... last time I bought coilovers was like 8 years ago.

+1 for realy any zeals you can get. I had Zeal Function V6's on my old car with 10/8 springs and those rocked.

+1 for tein basics, i have them on my car and the ride is not hard at all. It's a bit softer setting than stock. Plus they're pretty affordable.

How much are the Tein basics? I had Tein HAs (the ones made in Japan, not in Taiwan) and was VERY happy with them... They took about 100k of abuse before needing to be re-valved, and even still, they work, just not as stiff as they used to be.

What are BC coilovers? Aren't they the ones that can't be rebuilt? How much do they cost?

I'm looking to spend around $1,500 at the MOST, thats the highest I'll go.

You guys rock, thank you for the info so far, please feed me some more!

Hmmm looking around, its more expensive than it used to be -- about $800-900 these days. But the springs and struts are perfectly matched, and perfectly matched to he car... at least in my opinion. I've used them at Thunderhill and really liked the ride. They are twice as fun on the street and not too bumpy, even here in SF. Still, even with 235/45's on 17" wheels, I avoid the potholes.

+1 Tein Flex
And they are able to rebuild them.

Mine are going to be done here soon. About $100 a coilover.

I dont know why so many people love Tein, but for around $1500 my top choice would be cusco zero-1s - comfortable on street and stiff enough for the canyon.

*My $0.02 don't buy lower end coilovers (and yes that's $2,000 and lower) especailly for street application...they will blow out and you will spend the cost of good coilover's in the end, trust me.

BC stands for Buddy Club and they are about $1100 new. They have been dyno proven to be better than all competiters in that price range. Regarding the rebuilds, I believe they can be for like $95 a corner but don't quote me on this. These are what I will be putting on my STi in the next few months which will be tracked and auto-x'd frequently.

No track days and no auto-x.....COIL OVERS ARE A WASTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

get some koni struts and some crucials springs. Get some sway bars. Call it a day.
If you want I'll let you drive my wagon with just jdm struts and pink springs. PLENTY STIFF.

only coil overs I'd ever think of for street driving are ones that can be adjusted from inside the car so I don't have my liver beat out of me on my morning commute.

Seriously though.....coil overs when your not gonna track it...waste.

Plus...I thought you grew out of your car. Go drive an 08...
