Camera guys, is this 50D deal too good to be true?

so my friend found this deal on this website http://www.digitalmegastore.com/prod...rt_id=35073584

Basically Canon 50D + Canon 24-70mm F2.8 + Canon 70-200mm F2.8 IS all brand new for $2879 with free shipping. FYI their market price according to amazon are as follow:

Canon 50D(body only): $1100
Canon 24-70mm F2.8: $1340
Canon 70-200mm F2.8 IS: $1670

so thats a saving of $1230!! is this too good to be true?? i've done a little research on this company and i got mixed reveiws. however my friend did buy a 5D II from them back in Janurary 09' and had no problems whatsoever. so the question is should i pull the trigger on this deal?

that is not bad i would jump on it if i had the money or you can wait a little longer see how the new canon does T1i (500D) does its cheaper than the 50d with a few exceptions(50D has micro-adjustment, metal body, bigger body, thumbwheel, top LCD, 6.3fps) other than that it does everything a 50d does

Your friend probably gotten a gray-market body.
Or it's a hit or miss usually.
Just have your bank customer service line on hand just incase.

I use this site a lot to make sure what I'm buying is right.

Honestly, I think its too good to be true. But, your call.

Good luck.

Vennis, when a deal is too good to be true, it probably isn't. If you do decide on it, just be careful. Also, Canon has rebates every now and then which can save you a lot of money. The thing with camera gear is their prices don't fluctuate that much from one dealer to another.

I can not speak for Canon, but if you buy Nikon gray market items, NikonUSA will not even service your product if you need them to unless you have a good enough reason why you have gray market items.

Sounds like a really sketchy company. I would stay away from them.

I know at least with the Sony cameras, Sony has a pretty tight grip on what they are being sold for. Meaning there really aren't any awesome deals to be had unless it's one Sony is doing (when they have $300 off on their site, the retailers have $300 off too), but there isn't any big difference in price between retailers, especially on non-sale prices such as this.

The lens you have listed stick to their price. A $1230 almost means they are giving u the body for free. No way. If all of them a refurbished it "might" make sense. I personally won't risk it.

I would suggest you to get 40D over the 50D, there is still some problems with the 50D. also, I would rather spend the money on the lens instead of the body...I mean some people able to produce great photos out of a XT...it just my 2 cent

also, do not buy it off some random website...they will hold ur item, jack u, and probably give you some bad cameras!! same goes to ebay!! even your friend didn't get anything from the bad side...I rather not risk it...

just goto BH photo, u probably pay a little more...but for the customer service and how safe their products...I rather go with them...at least when something wrong, they will get it fix for sure

and what kind of camera you had before?

you need to be really careful. Only buy from a legitimate store, and check BBB. There about 20 of those popular camera stores that are shady as hell.

if you live in the bay, goto cafe zen meet on wed nite...I will bring my camera out and let u play with it...

and seriously, 15MP?? are you able to use it all?? it would be nice if you print huge poster or something more professional shoot...or else it will take days to convert, correct, and post online if needed.

for me...I shoot jpeg large normally, shoot raw if something I think it worth to spend my time to refine it...like, friends wedding, cars, etc.

i currently have a 450D and a few lenses. to be honest i think the 450D is more than enough at my current skill level, and i have no desire to upgrade my body unless i can afford the 5D MKII. i was just thinking i could purchase that package and sell of the lenses and my 450D and i'll be getting a free upgrade. but now that i think of it i shouldnt be greedy and take the risk. thx for the replies!

if you can afford that package, then you can afford the 5d MkII. from what i've seen the 5d II is an awesome camera. all my friends that have it, loves it.
