that's freakin rediculous.

how many classic cars do you see puffing black smoke all day driving 15000 miles a year. I mean come on. These care are usually taken care of. Rarely driven. And on top of that how can you force a car that was built to meet the smog laws of the time to meet the smog laws of today? That's rediculous.

The thing is, they are trying to lower levels to an unrealistic level. To do what they want to do every california would have to cut their driving down by 15% and we'd have to take like 10% of the SUV's off the road to be replaced by civics. Or even more than that. We do so much more than any other state as it is it's rediculous. We have much stricter laws. We have special/more expensive gas. Etc. Etc.

This is rediculous. If this passes I'm gonna be pissed. How can you expect 3-5% of the car population to make up for a 15-20% drop in polution levels. Stupid. This stuff takes time.

what? You crazy?

what about 71 240z. 73 510.

50's cars. I am looking at a 53 cadillac right now.

60's muscle cars.

73 lincoln continental.

man cars are our history. We are so fixated on "improvement" and "moving forward" that we forget our history. We tear down old business. Replace old fixtures with plastic garbage. Cut down old growth trees to build new poorly build homes.

I am so sick of this bull ****. Instead of taking old building and rebuilding the insides we build new ones with half the workmanship. Fake marble. Half asses brick work. Etc...etc.

Now we want to take old cars off the road.

What do you suppose we should do with them? Cut them up and recycle them...cause that's what is gonna happen. And in 15 years it's gonna cost $100k to have a decent hot rod cause it will have to have brand freakin new engines in em.

if you actually read it you would notice they want to get rid of the 30 year old law and change it to ALL cars past 1976

here so you dont have to look at the other thread:

This may be our last chance! As you are aware, A.B. 2683, the California legislation that would repeal the state's current rolling emissions test exemption for vehicles 30 years old and older passed in the California Assembly and will now be considered in the Senate. The bill would repeal the current pro-hobbyist exemption and replace it with a law requiring the permanent testing of all 1976 and newer model vehicles. A hearing in the Senate will likely be scheduled for June 29th. We must double our efforts to contact the Senate Transportation Committee!

In all honesty, I don't care for this. Becuase since day one, all old school US muscle cars were given a free pass while us, import car enthusiasts got a foot in the *** when it came to modifications and SMOG.

Next on the list to do: Start giving exhaust tickets to those loud *** Harleys.

So, basicly there trying to make sure the list of smog exempt cars doesn't grow? Is that all this is? I can see why this is a pain in the *** to enthusiats, but it's not that bad. So the WRX and STi will never reach smog-exemt status. Of course I could be wrong. I'd be more worried about how they plan to treat the enthusiats, like what Imprezer was saying. Oh well, move to Utah.

I agree with the Harley part, bu the old school american cars get a free pass because, well, they are old. They were never ment to pass any smog laws when new, and none used cats untill '75, so it would be unfair to make them pass now. It's not just American cars that get a free pass, it's any car built before 1976. My neighbor used to have a 50 something Mercedes-Benz and he was always talking about how thankfull he was for the law. What about all of the bugs. How many of those do you think have o pass smog? I'm not saying I like the idea of doing away with the 30+years stipulation, just saying that American cars don't have an unfair advantage.

-Chris

p.s. It REALLY pisses me off that Harleys never get pulled over!
