Buttonwillow $99 Track Day June 5-6
Anyone else interested in some cheap track time?
I'm going for sure at least Saturday, still on the fence about staying for Sunday.
Driving school is open both days, Solo is full Saturday. 'Point by' group.is open both days still, which is what I'll be running.

Buttonwillow Config #13 CW.
Five 20/25 minute OT sessions per group and four (practice, qual, race, race) sessions for the race group. 2hr enduro in the evening, if we get 15 or more entries! (see the enduro rules)
Registration: $99 for OT or race or enduro

From what I hear, buttonwillow is a good place to learn because of the lack of walls. Thunderhill is also good for first timers.

There's different levels of instruction, and the driving school group is often mixed with the solo (novice) group. I still ask people to ride with me and help me with my lines, since I'm always trying to improve.
It won't really be slow (who goes to the track to drive slow?), but it's usually spaced out enough that it's not stressful. If someone catches up to you, just point them by and it's no biggie.

Track day is 10x safer than mountain/canyon runs. The roads are in better condition, no people driving the other direction that drift into your lane, no bikers to hit around blind turns, no deer jumping out at random moments. It's just you, your car, and the turn that's comin up.
It's rarely the beginners that crash, they're the most careful. It's usually the advance group, where there's people that think they're faster than they really are. Plus you can't really crash at Buttonwillow or thunderhill, you just spin out and get some dust on your wheels.
