Do you own a home? Do you have a family? 100K is absolutely manageable, but by no means are you rolling in it. Particularly if you've purchased a home in the last 10 years.

Presidents make their money after they serve their term via speaking engagements. I'm pretty sure Bill and Hillary Clinton's income is public information at this point. You should look it up. It's a lot. A whole lot.

overwhelming majority of mayors aren't hurt by the "low salaries." their pockets were already fat prior to gaining office.......Ex: Jerry Brown, Dianne Feinstein, Pretty Boy Newsom, Willie Brown, et al.

something tells me that a bus cleaner making 100k a year isn't the cause of SF's budget problems..

Any sources that you can refer me to?

I do not have a family of my own, but I support my mother and grandma's living on top of my own expenses and car hobby, so I got some budgeting experience

problem's not a simplistic as blaming the unions.
and to dude asking for sources re: top us fin. centers. don't have any offhand.
::
::
however, it's well known in the industry that nyc leads & sf has the west coast on lock, despite la being 3x's as big (city not fin district tho...theirs is really small compared to sf. century city is more of a force than dtla)
::
boston+chicago are above sf, and the midwest (like omaha, NE) has only been a player basically in the buffet era. they've been getting more action as firms flee the big cities due to costs. NC is an up and coming fin center as well due to banks like BofA setting up camp there.
