Bummed about Carlsen Subaru

I'd got my 05 sti there new and they hooked it up and it was a good deal. Pops is trying to buy an outback xt turbo auto, they have a couple newer ones but say they won't deal. They are asking over kbb, my opinion is the used car market is fooked with the shape of the economy, and interest rates on used car loans.........so they should take under kbb imo. They won't even come down to kbb. What to do? any other dealers worth trying or just stick to private party sales?

This may sound stupid, but why don't you check Capitol or Stevens Creek Subaru? If they won't budge under KBB then don't buy from them and look for a newer one that was barely used or has very low miles locally for much cheaper.

yea there aren't that many, hard to find. Theres a sweet private party asking 18 for one thats kbb is about 20 but its a 5 spd and his back/foot are messed up now so. I'm right not paying kbb tho right? I mean right now seems like they should be desperate to sell?

Yeh, Gas prices are rising and I'm sure they aren't selling that many turbo'd cars right now, so I would assume that they give you a good deal. If they don't, act like you don't care and walk out of the dealer, and hopefully they will say fine and negotiate, but if not, then don't buy.

Maybe you should actually go to the dealership and talk to them in person to get the good prices? No idea man, good luck though. I say look for a clean one that was owned for very small amount of time, it will be much cheaper.

You have to also remember that there is a market value for vehicles. Just something to keep in mind. This vehicle is hard to come by, right?

they always say that over the phone, because someone on the phone is less likely to come in anyways, they don't want ot be telling a bunch of people they'll go lower than they want.

The main thing is to find out how much THEY bought the car for

Used cars are big money for a dealership. You need to go in there. Look at it. Tell them you like the car but not the price. Make an offer. Leave your contact info with a price written really big on it, and tell them when they feel like selling the car at your asking price to call you. Usually this is all the motivation they need.

well they didn't offer it over the phone on used auto. And when I first got my sti they were whack for the first 20 minutes completely, and then ended up being totally awesome.

To me if I can get a new car for invoice, and for an sti, I ain't paying over kbb on a used outback when the economy is **** and you can get many new cars for under invoice that never sold close to it before.

guess i gotta go down.

Oh man, there is no reason to ever go to that dealership (or any other really) as long as there is Alchemy Motors!! PM Alchemy Motors or find the "Craigslist Imprezas" thread and post in there.
