6500RPM? Isn't that very close to red line?

Sorry dood, but your a dip.
Do a launch like that with any stock car and eventually that is going to happen.

I launched my car once at like 5K and I jerked forward, then imediatly thought "oh yeah, I have AWD... WOW! I have double the traction of a F/R-WD car. Better not do that again!".

btw is this a white sti that was at the runs on sat in booddock land in byron.? it sounds like your diff. blew out. it moves cuz you lock the diff in place.

look at your dyno graph and try launching at where your torque peaks at (for me around 4.5k) 4-4.5k is a perfect awd launch for me and use up and redline 1st gear, no need to launch close to redline to start off. after 1st i would shift at peak whp. good luck with the drivetrain problems

Dude I can't believe that you are still dropping it at redline unless you have unlimited funds for towing and repairs.

and for your info...the sti trannys can handle that kind of drop. its only if you have a ****load of power, dont do it..

hey your the one that didn't learn your lesson the first time. These guys are talking from experience. These cars have been around long enough that anyone that is into tuning them should know the tranny isn't the strongest thing in the world and with AWD all that torque goes strait to the gears.

You fragged your 1st gear and if you even try to pull one over on your dealership it won't go well..they aren't stupid.

Just admit you jacked it up. Go to mike and get an RA gearset installed.

Dropping from that high is just not wise.

there is no RA gearset option for the STi 6Spd. Its time for a new tranny. And thats oh.....about 4-5k. Maybe now you'll learn how to drive an AWD car. 6-7k RPM drops break trannies and diffs....get with it or get rid of it!

I seriously doubt it's a broken gear if he could put the DCCD to lock and limp home. He hopefully snapped a rear axle at the shear off point (there is a weakend ring on the ends of our axels near the wheel so it breaks there instead of spintering or shattering somewhere else). Putting your car in lock will let the car get power down through the front wheels while the rear may be broken.

As long as your rear diff is ok, you shouldn't be too expensive on repairs. Do NOT get stronger axles. Not only do you not need them at this power level, but you WILL break your diff if you mess up again.

I'll give you some constructive criticism here man: If numerous suby people are telling you to change your launch techniques then maybe do some research on it. They aren't talking to you in a respectfull way I understand, but what you're doing doesn't make sense to them. It has been proven that an STI that is clutch slipped at 4500-5000rpm can get you 60' times in the low 1.7 to high 1.6 range. Why put all that extra stress on your car?
