Brembos in....
...so, I'm, the lucky guy who got BADWRX's Brembo brakes
. Took a wheel swap to get it all in, but they're installed.
As for the brake swap itself, this is the EASIEST brake swap I've ever done (and I've done a few). A buddy and I did the swap, and had it done (as in, from drive onto the Rhino Ramps with stock brakes to backing off the ramps with the Brembos installed) in UNDER 1 hour!
Performance : great....what else did you expect? I'll throw in more aggressive pads than what is in there now, but then that's just me.
Look : Gold caliper that is RIGHT behind a Steel Grey Rota SDR (thanks, Subydude!). In other words, it looks freaking awesome
. About 2mm of clearance to the wheel at the closest spots, but it does clear.
I'll try and get pics in the next day or so and post them up....

I think I'll be able to live with the thought that I have these "Ghetto" brakes

I'm hoping to make UCKK next Tues night (9/2/03), if not I'll almost certainly be at Big Dogs next Thurs (9/4/03) and UCKK the Tuesday after that.
I'm doing the Legacy H6 rear upgrade as well, parts should arrive next week. I'll paint the rear caliper and bracket to match the fronts.

u think you can outbrake your impala now?
Put the SS on the race tires (same sizes, but Kumho VictoRacers) and it gets even more noticable.
Stock-to-stock the SS will outbrake the WRX. Surprisingly, the boat does 60-0 in only 120 feet stock! WRX is about 130 feet......and 120 feet was pretty competitive (and often better) with almost EVERY "high performance" car on the road back in 1996. Downside is the SS front brakes stock are only about the same size as stock WRX front brakes stock....thus fade is REALLY bad. You get that nice 60-0 distance for ONE stop, then get to smell some brakepads burning off

On my cars (neither of which has stock brakes anymore) : the SS front brakes are basically identical size-wise to what is on the WRX now (rotors on the SS are 330mmx32mm, WRX ones are 326mmx30mm....both cars with similar-sized 4-piston calipers), but the SS is using more aggressive pads.....I'll fix that on the WRX soon
. Rear brakes : the SS ones are bigger than the H6 brakes (H6 = 290mmx10mm solid rotors, SS is 290mmx20.5mm vented) and the SS has 4-piston Wilwood Dynalite calipers (similar the front caliper in the Perrin Wilwood kit for the WRX) instead of the 1-piston floating calipers on the WRX.So, to make a long story short : I need wider and stickier rubber under the Rex! The car is definitely tire limited right now from both a braking AND handling standpoint. I'll pick up a second set of rims (that fit these brakes) for the WRX in a few months and throw some stickier rubber on them.
