Brake stuff for sale

Just finished the rest of my upgrades today : the H6 rear rotors and caliper brackets along with Axxis Ultimate pads (to complement the STI Brembos I put on the front a couple weeks ago). So, time to clear out some stuff in the garage I don't need anymore

Following for sale :
  • Stock 2002 WRX rear rotors (10.5") and caliper brackets. Brackets have been epoxy painted silver. Approx 26K miles on them. Rotors in great shape, no warpage, no unusual wear, etc. In other words, there are many miles left in them and would make great spares for someone. Asking $25 for everything, WILL NOT SHIP! I will however bring it to UCKK or Big Dogs meets next week if you let me know.

Update : "dibs" on the brackets, so the rotors only are available now for $15.
  • EBC Greenstuff brakepads, both front (2002 WRX front calipers, will NOT work with 2003) and rear. Front pads have approx 5K miles on them, rears approx 17K. There is a LOT of life left in all of these pads, no funny wear or cracking or anything like that. Asking $25 for all, or $35 shipped (although I'll gladly bring them to UCKK etc).
  • Hawk HP+ pads for front calipers on 2002 WRX (note these are HP+, NOT the milder HPS pads). Approx 12K miles on them, easily WAY over 1/2 pad life left. No funny wear or cracking. Cost $130 new, I'm asking $30 for the set, or $40 shipped (once again, no problem bringing them to UCKK or Big Dogs). These pads will dust a lot and squeal some, but they stop TONS better than stock. If you want to completely transform how your brakes work, these will do the trick!

If you're interested in any of the above, send me a PM or e-mail me at ed@runnion.net

As for the H6 rear install, it was surprisingly easy! Just remove the stock caliper bracket and rotor (about 5 minutes per side) and then drill out the spotwelds on the dust shield (about 10 minutes per side). After that just bolt on the new stuff, bleed the brakes, and done!

How much was the H6 rear upgrade and where did you get it from? Just curious...

H6 rear upgrade was $225+shipping from subaruwrxparts.com. That includes the rotors and the caliper brackets. You re-use the stock (WRX) calipers and caliper hardware (the slide pins with boots, brakepads, and brakepad clips that go in the brackets).

KGB4187 : I'll sell the brackets by themselves for $10 for the pair. You'd need the caliper hardware I listed above to make them work (I moved the clips and slide pins/boots to the new brackets).

Hey Ed,

Do you still have those stock lug nuts? I can't find mine for the life of me?

You would help me out greatly if you did!

Anyway, any pics of the new "Big" rear brakes? I would love to see them.

Thanks,
Andy

Sounds good. The calipers came with pads in them, but I'm not familiar with brake stuff to know what else I need.

Replied to the PM.

Yeah Andy, still have those stock lugnuts. I can bring them up to UCKK on Tuesday if you want.

KGB4187 : I'll hold the caliper brackets for you and bring to UCKK on Tues night. If you can't be there, let me know.

I should be there around 8:30 or so.

Greenstuff pads are still available at this time. My experience with them was that if you bedded them properly (note that many folks do NOT and thus have issues with them) that they work fine. It's not a huge upgrade over stock pads (see the Hawk HP+ pads for that), but is a little upgrade. Dusting and noise is comparable to stock (i.e. not much of either).

KGB4187 : Greenstuff pads are gone (yes, in that short time between my post and your post yesterday!). En3D got them...

odyss3y : how about $20 + a cup of coffee from UCKK (Starbucks nearby) tonight? I gotta at least make a counter-offer here

En3D : I'll send you a PM later today.

Looks like the pads are all gone, and caliper brackets are gone. Rotors are still available, $15 for some cheap spares if anyone needs them.
