I liked his work. He died relatively young.....

Sorry but I never cared for boyd. Yeah he kept hot rodding alive in the tough years of the 80's and 90's but he also stands for all the bad in hot rodding. He took it out of the hands of the average joe and put it firmly in the hands of douche bags with dough. Bit rims. Million dollar cars with leather interiors and 10,000 dollar stereo systems. Made parts too expensive for the average people to afford and did to the hot rod industry what O.C. choppers and discovery channel did to bike building. Bastardized it, made it trendy and expensive and flooded with poor poor taste.

Sorry. R.I.P. Boyd. I respect the good you did and I feel bad for the family loosing a loved one at just 63 years old. But he lived a dream life and his family has lived a blessed life and will continue to do so.

So for me... I still say "Avoid the Boyd"

Well said OneManArmy. Boyd was a complete douchebag, which is why just about all of his staff from the tv show left to work for Chip Foose (who is an amazing guy and one of the nicest I've seen in the business!)

Amazing, I didn't realized he was so disliked among the industry. Just the same, I thought it was too bad he died in his early 60's. His early work was what I liked.

I had the pleasure of going to school with his son. A complete douche. And you knew which car was his, cause he was the only one driving in with a fresh paint job and a set of Boyd's expensive *** wheels. R.I.P. to Boyd, but yea, I'd have to agree. My guess is he had a heart attack. Anybody watch his show? He was constantly stressing out and yelling about BS.
