Bosal DP / Gutted UP Review
Bill and Andy installed my Bosal downpipe and gutted stock uppipe into my otherwise stock WRX this morning (In a shade under 2 hours )...and the review is...pizza is a happy man.
It feels like a different car with much more oomph down low. Where I used to acheive full boost at or around 3700-3800 in 3rd and fourth...now boost starts to come on around 2900-3000 and I'm hitting maximum by 3200-3300. Spool up is much faster and has made the car fun all over again. "Max" boost has also risen by approximately 0.01mPa, meaning I now top out at around 0.095-0.1. This is with entirely stock boost control.
The rest of the system is the stock 3rd cat, followed by Stromung midpipe, and Prodrive muffler. Exhaust note volume seems virtually unchanged, while I can now hear the turbo and wastegate much more clearly. x100
The only downside was the dreaded CEL that reared it's ugly head about 10 miles from Bill's house. This was expected and I'll be putting in a MIL eliminator (thanks Gruppe-S) very soon.
I wanted to thank Bill and Andy for doing what seemed to me a super fast install with no leaks or issues. Bill convinced me to reuse the same uppipe gaskets, as he said he's only seen leaks with aftermarket pipes. Anyone looking to get quality work done for what I consider cheap should certainly look up the http://www.i-speedusa.com guys.
Anyway...I couldn't be happier for less than $400 in total cash output. Best mod EVAR!
