I, too, would like a discreet-sounding exhaust, but I don't like the twin-tip look of the Hush. I have an '06 and like stock-looking single tip designs. But not a huge melon shooter.

i got the borla hush (4in tip) on my sti w/ a pde dp. its pretty quiet up to 2500 rpm or so. its loud on WOT of course, but doesn't have that drowning noise like most loud exhausts on cruising speed. it definitely is louder than stock. i remember when my friend didn't have an exhaust on his sti and drove my car, said its so much easier cuz its louder (you can hear the rpm change). but then he got a 3.5" aps and says my car is hard to drive now because its so quiet. go figure. but i am very happy with the sound of it and have gotten a lot of compliments that its loud, but not too loud.

I've got the helix catless dp with borla catback .. It's not so loud at idle, or low rpms but once you get on it, it's differently a lot louder than stock. But im very satisfied with this setup, had it for around 2 years, i have talked to cops with my car on, even got complimented twice on the note of it by two cops. Not hassel from them whatso ever. If you want to hear them, i will probably at UCKK next tuesday.

Henry

P.S oh and if you dont like the dual tip, borla makes a single tip as well. I've heard it on Evos .. and it's not that loud.

The Borla Hush is sex. Especially with a Helix DP.

heres another video of the borla with helix catless uppipe and downpipe. it is fairly quiet at idle, bust is much deeper. it is also noticeably louder than stock. once you get above 5k, its kind of a screamer

I have a different perspective than everyone else I talk to about this subject. I have the Borla Hush CBE, stock 3rd cat, Crucial DP, and Crucial UP on my wagon. I find that the Hush sounds nice with a subdued burble at idle, but as the RPM's rise, I find it actually doesn't get much louder in the cabin. I'm sure if you're behind me with your windows down, it's pretty loud, but even though I have a wagon, I find this setup almost too quiet. Yes it's louder than stock, but that's because I've removed 2 cats. I put the Hush on in place of the stock CBE before installing the other exhaust components, and there was very, very little discernable difference in volume...just barely noticeable.

after changing the catback union to 3" the noise increased quite a bit. Here's yet another video from the inside when I had the VF34 PDE flex UP, Maddad twindump catted DP, 3CE, non tapering 3" flange, and Borla back from there.

http://home.pacbell.net/peter_s/hush.wmv Please don't mind the rattles, that is the quality of the helix endlinks, which have been replaced.

When I go through a tunnel at WOT it is insane loud, but normal driving I'm almost used to it. I think after the wadding gets some use it quiets down a bit. It is still a little noisey on the highway though.
