boost guage

Hey all,

Well, now that I have my Baja Turbo, what are the recomendations for a boost guage? I was going to have it installed by the dealership, but decided to save the $$, at least for now. I know that tere are a lot of aftermarket boost guages, but don't know head from tails about them and the brands. Idealy, I would like something that will match the dash. Also, what do people perfer, piller pood or installed on the collum?

Thanks in advanced.

Ben

i like the steering column mount unless you are going to get other gauges in which case i'd recommend a gauge cluster not on the pillar... but i like the less bling bling look...

I just installed my Autometer Sport Comp 2 1/16" gauge on the column. Didn't want the extra attention with it on the pillar. It looks great and matches the WRX gauges perfectly. It has a black face and silver trim around it just like the stock ones. It also has agreen light to match the rest. Cost me like $65 for everything shipped.

I have been given some recommendations, now I have another question. I have knoticed that some are mechanical and some are Electrical. What are the advantages and disadvantages to both?

Mechanical - quick to react to changes, reflected in gauge response. Requires a sender at the engine and often a thick capillary tubing (for temperature gauges) to be routed to the gauge. Extra care must be taken not to cause a break in the tubing.

Electrical - ease of installation, usually just a remote sender at the engine with a single wire running to the gauge. Lighter weight than corresponding mechanical temp gauges.

If you don't like the factory gauges,
check out the Omori Gauges.

How hard are they install if you don't really know what you are doing?
