If a stock STI was jacked, it was probably for the engine. What other bafoon would try to steal some STI crap speakers. =\ Good luck on the find... and that insurance thing is just plain BS, but actually it happens to a lot of people the first month they have their car.

No update yet unfortunately. My beater car isn't insured/registered at the moment, so I can't yet start looking for it on the street... But I've been checking the standard sites looking for STI parts for sale. No luck yet.

Now that it's been a couple days I plan on checking with the police for parking tickets/etc.

I don't mean to bash the police here, but I have to agree. The police here are ridiculously thorough about traffic tickets, I mean they literally scour Edgewater/Hillsdale Blvd... Especially at night! Crazy

Anyway, if anyone has any other advice on how to pursue this beyond what I've already tried, it'd be greatly appreciated

goodluck in finding it. i go around sf area a lot and i'll keep a good eye out for it. even if a car has an alarm, its quite easy to steal a car (no matter how high tech of an alarm system you have) . i've asked some AAA guy about it, he said all someone has to do is driveby to your car and just put a positive and negative wire on your body.. turn up the voltage.. and bAM.. your car is shorted out. power to alarm? gone. and then its all peace and quiet for him to do his job. VERY scary to know that its that simple.. all the rest is to just tow it away. an sti has a lot of valuable stuff; engine, seats, wheel, **** (something that simple can go for even some $ on craigslist), etc. if you find it, hope it'll be in one piece. i know im blabbing on a lot, but it could be shipped to another place where it could be sold again. just some possible things that could happen to it, not to scare you. hope your car will be returned to its rightful owner.
Take care.
