LCD's are pointless in bigger sizes, they lose a ton of quality the bigger they are. I have a 32 in my bedroom and I'm going to be replacing it with a plasma if I can find a good sale. They just don't deal with the color black all that well and watching it in the daytime is not very fun. Plasma is pretty comparible in price at that size and much better picture.
Yeah.. i always think plasma is better.. interms of contract and clarity. They are a bit cheaper in price too. However, I have heard that plasma requires more electricity and also will not last as long.
They have to be recharged, but face it what TV isn't obsolete in 4-5 years anyways. The electricity thing I think is a farce. A big LCD probably drains just as much power to use since you have to turn the backlight up to make it visible in daylight.
I have a monster 36 TOSHIBA CRT HDTV in my front room that I can't move without 3 people helping me that still looks better than the LCD.
