Bit Torrent Advice/Help needed

So I've finally begun using bit torrent. (limewire, morpheous, etc are just too unusable these days)

I'm currently using BitComet and downloading from Mininova.com. My question is, does anyone know of a better torrent program or torrent site? Right now, the downloads are pretty slow, and the selection isnt that great. Any Bit Torrent advice for a noob would be greatly appreciated!

Btw I'd primarily be downloading music.

For the client, I use uTorrent (muTorrent). Takes up very little resources.

For music, I use oink.cd, although it's invite only. Great download speeds, but you do have to upkeep a certain share ratio or else you get banned.

For movies and programs I use mininova, torrentspy, or piratesbay.

utorrent 1.6, works well without issues and doesn't use a ton of resources.

best torrent sites are private and require an invite. Only use public sites like mininova for normal tv shows. downloading movies, music, and hbo/showtime shows from a public site is asking for trouble.

if you have mIRC you can use that. it's super easy and fast, and you still get to download full cd's at a time

donate or find someone with invites, I don't have my ratio high enough to start inviting, otherwise I'd offer, but as far as convenience goes, oink.cd for the damn win. torrent-damage.net is also another great private tracker, they have GREAT quality cam films when new flicks releases too. but all of this is useless information if I can't get you the invites, so I'll shut up. mIRC is great too, but you have to be clever with irc searches and know a little unix to get around, I stopped using IRC a while back, but I remember that most channels migrated from EFnet to RIZON now.

EDIT: of all public trackers, I find isohunt.com the best

+1 to isohunt

I use Azureus because I learned it and am used to the layout. Utorrent is probably better, due to less resource usage, but I'm used to Azureus so I still use it.

Main sites I use:
isohunt - anything from programs to music
mininova - anything from programs to music
boxtorrents - anime/ anime OST
rallytorrents - WRC

If you're using a router, which most people are, make sure you know how to set the ports which your torrent program will be using, and learning how to forward them to your computer.

azureus is a good bit torrent program, I found a great release on some security site a while back.. as far as the stock program , you can tweak with your upload speeds and mod other options. overall it's really easy to use.

ircspy.com for irc XDCC downloads.
