One or the other... not both. A's don't have the budget. If they did there are a few guys that'd still be around... like swisher.

I think they'll go after thomas.

Though I honestly believe bonds would be a good fit. Already a HUGE bay area draw. Good hitter. Will be a GREAT DH. And I think he probably values playing a bit more now than he did before.

Either would be cool. They could use another 35-45 hrs and 100 runs.

They are doing fine without. If they really want to rebuild, they should give the kids a chance to show what they got.

Yea, the A's are clearly relying on small ball and great pitching. Those young arms are always quality because their farm system is that awesome.

if you pay them, the fans will come.

I would sill refuse to cheer for bonds in an A's uniform.

"In spite of Billy Beane's careful plans and grand design, the A's find themselves still in the playoff picture 20 games into the season."

This is why you can’t take the article seriously. You want to talk playoff contention 20 games into a season. It’s not even a full month. A's v. the first place Marlins in the series!!!

The A's are going to play well, but anyone who thinks we win over 81 games is delusional.

with the current team I don't see it. Arms are gonna get tired. Guys are gonna get hurt. They need a DH and they need crosby healthy the ENTIRE season. He's a lot like normar. Great when healthy.

If we can get the Big Hurt cheap, I can see that happening.

our team in 06 that had the big hurt on it got us to ALCS, so maybe having him on our team might not be too bad...

thats true with positional players, but why would the A's want to develop a DH? if they can get someone cheap (someone who brings in more revenues than is paid), and can help the team win this year, then why not. Bonds may be worth it for under 5mil. I wouldnt spend more than 1mil for thomas though.

They wouldn't both get to play though, only one DH position. It's not like either one can field a ball anymore.

Another player in history to inexorably tie the A's clubhouse to steroid scandal. How proud Oakland must be.

as far as i'm concerned mlb as a whole is already "inexorably" tied to steroids, there isnt a single team nor facet of the game that did not benefit from steroids including pitchers, hitters, managers, and owners. except maybe matt stairs, he didnt really seem to benefit much, but everyone else did.
