Best year Baja to get

I have a friend who is in the market for a Baja. I know it's based off our Impreza chassis, but wasn't sure if they had the same known issues. If anyone could shed some light on some suggestions on which year to look for, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

but seriously, I think the baja and lgt wag had the same chassis and EM (they ahd almost identical options)?

My cousin back in Maine has one and loves it. no problems other than the fact that she roasted the clutch a few times

I was under the impression it was based on the 00-04 legacy because the front clip (headlights bumper hood etc)

But stuff like tie rod ends, control arm bushings

If it is non turbo then headgaskets and timing belt service...

Yes, it is based off the BE/BH Legacy. It is also the only BE/BH to come standard in the US with a hood scoop.

To Dan's original question, I don't think there is any year is "better" than any of the others, but I'm not sure what options were standard and/or available across the model years. I know that the later ones came in monotone paint colors, which is much better looking IMHO. AndyC was looking for one for a while so he might be able to chime in with a better answer.

Yep you got it. As far as best year, I would just make sure it has a turbo and go from there. A lot of things may be "custom/one-off" but it would be worth it.

Agreed, I don't really like the half-silver look they did on them. A full color black or charcoal looks nice. With huge driving lights and an LED light bar on the roof.

One of the few Subarus I do not like. Red headed stepchild. It was an interesting idea, but I don't think it really worked.

There was a turbo at Mann the other day. It was solid color, rolling on STI BBS, Brembos and I am sure other stuff. I'd rock one like that, but still not quite me.

Did you find a Baja? Did all of them come with a Turbo after 04? I am considering getting one.
