On a related note, here's a quick video with some SERIOUS automotive eye candy!!! Especially after the 2 min mark and the EPIC footage of the WRC Subie right after the 3 min mark!!! WOW!

Here's another eye candy video of the GT500 Nissan GTR when it was first unveiled. OMG, I can't imagine the kind of money that was spent to create this beast!

It was the basis for their design language for 2006-2007 (started in 2005 actually in Japan). It's actually supposed to represent a propeller from a WW2 fighter plane since planes were a big part of Subaru's heritage.

I remember it due to us have a lecture in school from one of the designers from Subaru. All of the models had a similar front grill those years (except maybe the legacys.)

Pretty cool stuff.

I thought it was because they got the Alpha Romeo designer to create the cars and that the grill was due to his style (Known as the Alpha-Snout, or Alpha-nose). I had no idea it had anything to do with airplanes though, so that's really cool.

(I knew FHI was in the airplane dig but I never made the connection)

Gotta love how the Japanese driver said that about the LHD Mercedes C55. I was like "WTF, America gets NOTHING compared to Europe/Japan...must be payback for WW2"

^^^ Good question, I'm sure it exists and one of our resident JDM best motoring fan boys could provide us with a link...

I'm surprised this thread hasn't spawned more replies? Was it the thread title that killed it? I think it was.
