Best dealership to bring the car in for warranty work? Rear strut clunk.

Hey guys,

I've had just about enough of the annoying clunk coming from the rear of my car. I'm pretty sure it's the infamous strut clunk plagued on our cars, especially the 04-05 STi's. my car is just below the warranty mark at 35,421ish. Whats the best dealership to bring my car in for the work? One that already knows about the issue and won't give me bs. The car is stock except for an exhaust. I'm willing to drive as far as San Jose from San Francisco, and east bay, and even North bay. If they are open on Saturdays, even better. Thanks.

Mike

Not sure about weekends? Try Capitol? Besides, spring break is coming up. You can try to sneak it in during that time.

I want to get this done as soon as possible as my miles are running down and commuting sure kills the miles. I think I might go to Capitol as everyone has said good things about them. Do you guys know if they loan out rental cars as I'm sure they won't be able to do this in a day.

They won't be able to do this in one Day.

Capitol will take about 1-2 weeks. Even for simple crap...your under warranty then you're on the backburner.

Santa Cruz Subaru pwnz Capitol Subie by a longshot.

They will get you an enterprise...and believe me you'll be waiting!

Hm, Santa Cruz is way too far. I have to come back from Davis on Friday, skipping classes to get to the appointment on time. So do they pay for the rental?

They will pay for the rental if you service takes more than (1) day. On average Capitol Subaru will take 2 weeks. Santa Cruz will be on the ball and have it done in 1 week or less.
I understand where you're coming from, but remember Santa Cruz has impeccable customer satisfaction, Capitol...well doesnt!

rear struts are a 1 day thing. I had mine replaced under warranty and it was only one day.

Which dealership did you go to and was it for the clunking?

Get new shocks from the dealership and tell them that you'll put it in yourself.

lol, if I go for coilovers, I'd wanna pick up a set of RB320 for 2 g's! but those are way too expensive, and the other coilovers would be a waste since I don't race and would have a stiff *** ride.

I don't think it would take too long, given the resources and tools they have. Maybe half an hour for each shock. Maybe an hour for an alignment. I dunno.

I just got off the phone with Justin from Capitol Subaru, and he tells me that it MUST be the strut mounts, and it very much could be, but how can he diagnose that without even going in my car and checking it out? Many poeple have had problems with the STRUT itself, and how the grease/lube wears off and thats what's causing the noise. I don't know , I've heard people say it's the mounts, but most of the time, it's not. Why can't he just replace my rear strut like everyone else who's had this problem. This is really annoying, I don't have time for this, I think I'll just live with my piece of **** car. I wish I had gotten a corolla or a bmw, my head hurts.
