Beltronics RX65 Radar Detector for $200 (link inside)
Here's what I followed to hardwire my radar detector. I didn't use the bracket mod. Just mount it with the suction cups it came with.

Do not install you detector in this manner. It is behind the matrix and the tint at the top of the wind shield. This drastically reduces it's range. The chances of missing a LIDAR hit are high too as it sits so high on the wind shield.
