BBQ spots in SF??
So I wanted to have a bbq for July 4th in a area that doesn't require me to pay and reserve a spot. The only place I can think of is McClaren park, and that's only because I live near there. I was also hoping to look for spots in the sunset/richmond area, I know golden gate park has some bbq spots but I have no idea where they are. Thanks ahead of time

We get spots in the GG park without reservations all the time, you just have to get there early enough. There are a bunch in the meadow at 30th and JFK drive, near the Polo Fields.
Baker Beach is one of my favorite spots, there are a couple of spots in the Presidio also, up the hill going East from Baker Beach.
I shouldn't give up this spot, but check out Fort Miley near Veteran's Hospital off of Clement and 43rd. Check out the Western part of Stern Groove also, near the lake there.

Thanks a lot guys for the suggestions, I drove around GG park today and found some of the spots you guys listed. I'll be sure to get there SUPER early that day, that's why we have turbo =D
My friend also told me about Fort Miley, but I've never been there. I'll prob get lost heading there xD
Lol! your house it is!!!

Also a few pits at the end of Mason st. in the Presidio, near The Crissy Field Warming Hut. Most of the people around here are pretty granola, so the pits should be free. There's actually a really nice set of pits at the end of my street, but I know that the neighbors already have dibs on them, and will be out there early in the am.
Candlestick point has some good bbq pits, but I haven't been out there in easily 10 years so I can't vouch for them even being there anymore. Plus, cars get broken into all the time in the parking lot.
I grew up between Candlestick and McClaren park, so McClaren park is not my first choice for recreational activities. If you're looking for a secluded space where no one will bother you if you make a lot of noise, we've thrown some good parties at the park in Little Hollywood.
