just wanted to let those of you who don't know, MTV's "My Block" is showing the bay area and what we have to offer. hope some of you guys check it out because they are in Fatburger in concord at E-40's place. it'll be on today and tomorrow on MTV2.

I saw it.....i thought it was pretty cool that the bay is getting some recognition. I read something on the internet somewhere that socal was trying to take credit for the hyphy movment.

 

yeah I'm watching it right now, pretty nice to finally let other people know what the bay is about.

 

Its on again at 5:30 on channel 333 direct TV. Its funny how when I ask my buddies, in areas other than the Bay, if they have heard of Mac Dre, Mistah FAB, Keak da Sneak, etc. They all look at me like huh? Who the hell is that? But I think the Bay is coming up and hella people are jumpin on the Hyphy Movement.

lol i hope not. i'm from so.cal and i never heard anyone use that term. altho i meet a lot of bay guys that currently reside here and i hope they don't use it here. lets keep Hyphy in the bay.

Eh, I'm not that much into the hyphy movement. However, I've been a long time fan of E-40 though. Man, other emcees and hip-hop outside of "the hyphy movement" needs some love too like Lyrics Born, Blackalicious, Hieroglyphics, etc. The Bay ain't just about this "hyphy" sh*t.

 

yeah i feel you on the other emcees not getting the attention. but they dont have the lyrics and sound to go mainstream. I'm a big fan of the grouch from living legends, but I know he'll stay underground cause hip hop out here doesnt have the catchy beats and lyrics like hyphy sh*t does.

the majority of people out there are into mainstream and what's underground doesn't get radio play, most people just go by the radio and don't take the time to search good music. Bay Area's mainstream is still underground for the rest of the country or world because for some reason the bay's music never gets aired. i never heard of Mack Dre, Mr. Fab, JT bigga figga etc. same goes for some cats from sac.
what's interesting is how big Heiro, Quannum, Zion-I, Rasco, Planet Asia, Living Legends etc.are popular in the underground scene nation wide but the mainstream in the bay are un heard of to the rest.
i'm glad that the Bay is getting more recognition. i'm not really into mainstream music but i do give it a chance and groove to what sounds good. the bay deserves it's credit and needs to shine like the rest. it's crazy how Nor. Cal's culture is different from So.CaL's. i love it in both worlds!!!
